Spring 2026 Fashion Trends for Women Over 50 (And Where to Find Them in Ottawa)

Every year around this time we start getting our ladies in the shop saying the same thing,

“I’m just about done with all my sweaters and dark clothes! What’s the trend for spring!?”

Always with the caveat that they don’t want to look like they’re mutton dressed as lamb.

So, here are some trends that we’re seeing for us gals over 50 that feels fresh but looks timeless!

What we’ve been seeing in 2026 is a lot more structure. Last year there were a lot of oversized pieces and very flowy. Now we’re still getting flowy but with some more structure built in. Like this new Habitat Capsule.

All of these pieces are designed to work with each other but they’ve all got some structure to them. We’re seeing it in collars on the blouses and the dress, even the wide leg pant is holding its own.

Now, part of what allows a garment hold its structure is the fabric and this linen is lovely for that.

Let’s talk about what colours are worth knowing for Spring 2026

Cobalt Blues
Butter Yellows
Soft Violet
And of course, “cloud dancer” which is just some fancy way of saying “a light cream colour.”

These are what’s “Trending”

But if you have silver hair I would recommend the cobalt blues and violets. There’s just not enough contrast for me when it comes to the other colours, I find they wash me out. But it really depends on your skin tone but just trust your gut! I’m sure you have an inkling of what looks the best on you!

For us here at Three Wild Women we always take colour trends with a grain of salt and instead focus on colours that we know will suit.

The new soft pink Joseph Ribkoff Jacket set will look much better than a butter yellow but it’s in the same family lets say.

And denim is a classic so instead of the bright cobalt blue let’s go for the denim. You’ll just wear it so much longer!

Wide Leg Trousers & Midi Dresses.

These were trendy last year and they’re not going anywhere.

But I love them because they cover my legs, they’re still cool for the warmer days we have ahead and with the right accessories these will always be on trend!

Now see, here’s the shift.

The brightly coloured Tara Vao wide leg - those are trendy.
But the Charlie B Chloe Jeans - those are a classic.

You know Ottawa, we’re always the last ones to get new trends but with these suggestions you’ll feel good and on trend.

But come into the shop and try some of these styles on for yourself!
