Ottawa Fall Capsule Wardrobe for Women Over 50: 10 Pieces, Endless Mixes.

I’m not the kind to buy a whole new wardrobe for every season, at least not for myself. I do buy a whole lot for the shop though, what I do is get a few key pieces that I’m able to mix and match and create great outfits that I can add on to.

Here’s what’s on my Fall List:

1. Liverpool Wide Leg Kelsey Trouser.

 

Now, these are a denim brand that started making trousers and I have to say, I’m really loving trousers lately. They’re easy to style for an evening out or a bit more casual for when I’m here at the shop. They wash well, they fit well, and they’re comfortable enough to sit through a two hour movie at the theatre.

2. Dolcezza jacket. Chartreuse isn’t for everyone but this lightweight jacket is just absolutely fantastic. It’s a little different and that’s what I want. I’m not about to have just the boring pieces in my capsule wardrobe. Where’s the fun in that? Bright colours and texture. 

3. The trick with colour is to have a lot of the same palette in your capsule. So, like this Lasania teal and purple top. Beautiful with the chartreuse jacket but also a showstopper on its own. 

4. Which also layers well with the Charlie B light blue puffer vest. For those days when it gets a little chilly you can layer it over your Dolcezza jacket but also over just the Lasania top. Do you see where we’re going with this now?

5. Now, you’re not going to be in trousers the whole time. So this is where I would add in the Yoga jeans. The Emily Slim is what I like for fall because it’s easy to wear with both sneakers or to tuck into your boots. Because - yes - we’re going to need boots soon!

6. Which would also look great with the Joseph Ribkoff Knit top with the cream edging detail which comes with a matching pair of pants. (7.) because a set is the easiest way to look chic and put together without trying too hard. Just a great pair of heels and viola. Done.

7. But if you need something a bit more sparkly, which you will for holiday season, you’ll want to pick up the Joseph Ribkoff sparkle jacket. It’s a classic fancy element that will dress up anything. 

8. And to go under that sparkly jacket just a simple Pure Essence (Canadian!) long sleeve top.

And 9. A beautiful piece of jewelry, we have tons available at the shop here in Westboro.

And 10. Get yourself a great pair of fall boots or loafers. If you’re anything like me, the sandals don’t go away until the snow comes but trust me, you deserve a good pair of shoes.
