Getting Ready for Fall 2026: What We're Seeing at Three Wild Women
There is a particular kind of morning that tells you fall has arrived in Ottawa. The air off the river has a little more bite to it, the maples along Richmond Road start turning, and suddenly your summer wardrobe feels like it belongs to a different time entirely.
Now, none of that has happened yet, but we have been unboxing our fall products and if you have walked past our store windows lately, you might have gotten a glimpse of a Joseph Ribkoff puffer vest… which we put out during a heat wave.
This article is here to help you prepare and hopefully go through your closet and determine what you already have and where your gaps are. I’ll let you know what’s landing in store this season, and why we think it is going to be a favourite fall for our gals.
Grab your pen and paper and let’s get started.
Structured Knits Are Back
This year, sweaters are doing more than keeping you warm. The word we keep coming back to is structured. When Deb and I were modeling them the other day they weren’t stiff, but not quite boxy either. Just knitwear with a bit of shape to it, so it looks pulled together even if you’re not trying. Our Marie La Lune sweaters are a beautiful example of this. They’re soft to the touch, with enough form to wear on their own or layered under a jacket.
We paired the Marie La Lune sweater with the Compli K jean but I think they would also really work for an office type job with a pair of trousers. You could even still wear our little scarf magnets which have been a hit this season!

We’re practical first here. I don’t think any of us would reach for the sweaters that were dry clean only, so finding some of these structured pieces that work well but also wash well is important.
I will say, I’ve already grabbed one that I’ve been wearing on those days when the temperature drops. They’re just a bit more elevated than the long cardis that I was wearing all last year…. As much as I hate to say it.
Statement Outerwear
If there is one category worth investing in this fall, it is outerwear.
Ottawa does not give us a gentle transition from summer to winter, so having a coat or jacket that works hard and looks good doing it matters.

We sell out of these types of statement pieces quickly too! So if this is a category you’re missing in your wardrobe come by earlier than you think!
We are especially excited about the Joseph Ribkoff quilted puffer vest that I already mentioned. It is bold, it is a little bit sculptural, and it turns a simple outfit into something people stop to compliment. Deb and I both tried it on in one of our videos and when one piece can look good on two body types you know you have a win!

For those who prefer a more classic route, the Joseph Ribkoff animal printed jacket is tailored and versatile, easy to dress up or down depending on where your day takes you. Leopard print has been a print in fashion for decades and it’s not going anywhere so don’t worry about investing in something “trendy” because this trend will be here for a long long while, as it already has been.
Colour and Texture
Fashion watchers everywhere are talking about the same thing this season, rich, jewel-toned colour and texture that you actually want to touch. Think emerald, sapphire, and burgundy, along with fabrics that catch the light in a way that feels a little special without feeling like a costume.

The Alquema dresses, including the matching jackets, lean right into this. They are made for women who want their clothing to have a bit of personality and yes, they’re dressy but don’t forget that with fall comes holiday. These dresses would make a gorgeous gala look or wedding guest look.
Neutrals are not disappearing either. Camel, taupe, and soft greys remain the backbone of a fall wardrobe, and they pair beautifully with a single metallic accent, whether that is a piece of jewellery or a pair of shoes. The trick this year is treating metallics like a neutral rather than a statement, so keep it to one piece per outfit and let it do quiet work alongside your richer, jewel-toned pieces.
You could add in a bit of these colours and textures with our handbags. Now, we don’t put our handbags online but we do have them in the shop and they’re a great way to add a pop to your everyday outfits.
Bottoms That Actually Move With You
Comfort without giving up shape. This is what we want, I think it’s what women have been asking for no matter what our age or size and I have to say, I’m very pleased with the selection this year.
Again, Joseph Ribkoff - Canadian! Have made a selection of pants that have the polish of tailored trousers with the ease of knitwear, which makes them one of those pieces you will reach for on repeat once the weather cools. If denim is more your speed, our Yoga Jeans continue to be a customer favourite for exactly the same reason: real stretch, real comfort, and a fit that holds its shape through a full day of errands, work, and everything after.
Finishing Touches
No fall outfit at Three Wild Women is complete without a few well-chosen extras. The Proppa Toppa Hat is a fun way to add a little personality to your fall wardrobe, and it is practical too once those dropping temperatures. Layer in one of our scarves for warmth and colour, and finish with a piece or two from our jewellery collection to make an outfit feel finished rather than thrown together.
See you Soon!
